About Orai
What is Orai?
Orai is a free daily web game where you guess whether 6 images are AI-generated or real photos. It's like Wordle for AI image detection — everyone gets the same puzzle each day, and you build a streak by playing daily. Learn more about Orai →
Is Orai free to play?
Yes, Orai is completely free. No signup, no app download, no ads. Just visit orai.fun in any browser.
Does Orai collect my data?
No. Orai stores your streak and stats locally in your browser via localStorage. No account, no email, no personal data collected or transmitted.
Is there an Orai app?
Orai is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means you can add it to your phone's home screen for an app-like experience. There's no separate app to download — just visit orai.fun and tap "Add to Home Screen" in your browser menu.
Gameplay
How do I play Orai?
Visit orai.fun, tap Start, and you'll see 6 images one at a time. For each, tap AI or Real. You get instant feedback and a detection tip after each guess. Complete all 6 to see your score and build your streak.
Can I play Orai on mobile?
Yes. Orai is optimized for mobile and over 80% of players use phones. It works in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and any modern mobile browser.
What time does the new puzzle appear?
The puzzle resets at midnight in your local timezone. Everyone in the same timezone gets the same puzzle.
How do I share my Orai results?
After completing the puzzle, tap "Share result." Orai generates an emoji grid showing your guesses (without revealing images), which you can post to Twitter, Reddit, or send to friends.
What happens if I miss a day?
Your streak resets to zero. There's no streak freeze yet, so consistency is key. Play daily to earn badges.
What are the badges in Orai?
Badges are earned by building streaks:
First Step (1 day), Consistent (10-day streak), Dedicated (30-day streak), Devoted (100-day streak), and Legend (365-day streak). Score 6/6 on any day to earn the "AI Whisperer" daily title.
Can I replay a day's puzzle?
Once you complete a day's puzzle, you can view your results again but can't replay for a new score. Come back tomorrow for a fresh puzzle!
AI Image Detection
How can I tell if an image is AI-generated?
Check for 12 common AI tells: unnatural symmetry, wrong hands/fingers, garbled text, inconsistent lighting, texture repetition, impossible geometry, wrong eye reflections, painted-looking hair, over-saturated colors, background artifacts, unnatural edge crispness, and perspective warping.
What is the finger test for AI images?
The finger test: count the fingers in any image showing hands. AI frequently produces wrong finger counts, fused fingers, or anatomically impossible joints. It's one of the fastest and most reliable AI detection checks.
Why does AI mess up text in images?
AI image generators learn visual patterns, not language. They produce text that looks like writing but is meaningless gibberish. A real "STOP" sign says STOP; an AI "STOP" sign might say "SOTP" or "ST0P" or contain fake characters.
Can AI generate photorealistic images?
Yes. Midjourney, DALL-E 3, and Stable Diffusion can create images that fool almost anyone at a glance. However, they still leave subtle artifacts in symmetry, hands, text, lighting, and textures that daily practice can help you spot.
What are the best AI image generators?
The leading AI image generators in 2026 are Midjourney (best for artistic quality), DALL-E 3 (best for prompt accuracy), and Stable Diffusion (best for open-source control). Orai includes images that may be generated by these and other models.
How do I get better at spotting AI images?
Play Orai daily. Each puzzle teaches one specific detection technique with instant feedback. Over weeks, you'll build a mental library of AI tells. Also read our comprehensive 12-technique AI detection guide.
What is AI image literacy?
AI image literacy is the ability to critically evaluate images and determine whether they are AI-generated or real photographs. It's a critical 21st-century skill as AI-generated images become indistinguishable from reality. Orai makes building this skill fun and habitual.
