How to Play Orai

The complete guide to the daily AI image detection game

Orai is a free daily visual puzzle: 6 images appear, and you guess whether each one is AI-generated or a real photograph. It's like Wordle, but for AI image literacy. Everyone gets the same 6 images each day, so you can compare scores with friends and build a streak.

The Basics

Each puzzle takes about 1-2 minutes. Here's how a typical game flows:

  1. Open the puzzle — Visit orai.fun. You'll see today's puzzle number and theme (e.g., "Animals & Wildlife").
  2. Tap Start — The first of 6 images loads.
  3. Make your guess — Tap AI (if you think it's AI-generated) or Real (if you think it's a real photo).
  4. Get instant feedback — You'll see if you were right, plus a one-line tip explaining a specific AI tell in that image.
  5. Move to the next image — Tap "Next" to continue through all 6.
  6. See your results — Your final score, streak, and badges appear on the results screen.

Scoring System

You get 1 point for each correct guess, for a maximum of 6/6. Your score comes with a title:

ScoreTitleEmoji
6/6AI Whisperer🔮
5/6Eagle Eye🦅
4/6Good Eye👁
3/6Half & Half🤷
2/6Needs Glasses🤓
1/6Fooled😂
0/6Trust Nothing🤦

Streaks

Your streak counts consecutive days you've completed a puzzle. Complete all 6 images to extend your streak by one day. Miss a day and your streak resets to zero — there's no streak freeze yet, so consistency is everything.

Daily Themes

Orai cycles through 12 photography themes, each with its own difficulty and common AI tells:

Tips for Improving

1. Play every day

The single best way to improve is daily practice. Each puzzle teaches one specific spotting technique. Over weeks, you'll build a mental library of AI tells.

2. Read the feedback hints

After each guess, Orai shows you a one-line tip explaining why the image was AI or real. These tips are drawn from 12 categories of AI image flaws. Pay attention and you'll start recognizing patterns.

3. Study our full detection guide

For a deep dive into all 12 categories of AI image tells, check out our AI Image Detection Tips guide — it covers symmetry, hands, text, lighting, textures, geometry, eyes, hair, colors, backgrounds, edges, and perspective.

4. Trust your gut, then verify

Often your first instinct is right — AI images have a subtle "uncanny valley" quality. But learn to verify by checking specific details (hands, text, shadows) rather than relying on vibes alone.

Sharing Your Results

After completing the puzzle, tap "Share result". Orai generates an emoji grid like this:

🧪 🧪 🔷 🧪 ❌ 🔷

The grid shows your guesses (purple = AI, cyan = real, green = correct, red = wrong) without revealing the images, so friends can still play. The share text includes a link to orai.fun so others can join.
